Reliable Ablation Within Your Reach
Principle & Benefits of Microwave Ablation
Microwave ablation (MWA) is a minimally invasive therapy for unresectable tumors in various organs, including liver, lung, thyroid, breast, kidney and uterus. With image guidance, a thin needle called a microwave ablation antenna is inserted into the tumor. The emitted microwave energy heats the tumor quickly. When the temperature reaches up to 60°C, the tumor cells lead to death via coagulation necrosis. At the same time, it has minimal impact on normal surrounding organs.
Compared with existing thermal ablation therapies, the benefits of microwave ablation include bigger ablation zones, faster ablation speed, and more approach options, including percutaneous, laparoscopic, bronchoscopic, and open surgical access.

Ablation Performance in Clinical Practice
Therapy: Ultrasound-guided MWA on primary HCC
Patient History Record: M, Y-45, Chronic infection with hepatitis B (HBV) for over 20 years. Lesion size 2.0x1.8cm on right upper lobe with CT-scan. Primary HCC diagnosed with ultrasound and MRI.
Clinical Result: 2 MWA antennas were inserted in the lesion with ultrasound guidance. One antenna was placed in the upper side of lesion, and another antenna was placed in the lower side of lesion. The lesion was fully ablated to coagulation necrosis with contrast ultrasound. A ablation zone of 4.5×4.2cm was confirmed after 1-week follow-up, and it was fully covered the lesion area. In addition, and a safe margin up to 1cm was kept. The expected curative MWA goal was achieved.
